After recently making the decision to start writing short articles where I share the AgentBalance experience gained while traveling the world trying to make the segment of contact centers a better place, I have another story ready. And a big one it is. The Pioneers Festival 2016 in Vienna. One of the biggest events enabling startups, investors and corporates to meet at one place. This year introducing a major change. Only the most interesting 500 startups from around the world were invited.
To fully appreciate AgentBalance’s relationship towards the Pioneers Festival in Vienna, I need to go back in time a bit. One year to be precise. It was at the 2015 Pioneers Festival, my first time at this event, where AgentBalance originally met our seed investor, Neulogy Ventures. And why did I come back in 2016? First of all, I really liked the 2015 edition: Lots of positive feedback on the (then basically non-existing) AgentBalance solution, many important contacts and the general feeling of common goals, commitment, and enthusiasm. Secondly, AgentBalance won something again. We were awarded the Vienna Startup Package as one of the 10 lucky companies from all over the world. Yes, one of our colleagues will spend 3 months working hard in Vienna. I find that quite exciting and feel that it is a great chance for one of the future members of our team to join in style and get a chance to impress. Correct – AgentBalance is about to start HIRING SOON, so stay tuned!
How was the 2016 Pioneers Festival? It was busy. Quite a few corporates that fall into the AgentBalance target group were present. Which means the two festival days were filled with meetings, consultations and some minor partying. I can’t wait to further engage in the friendly battle with the working councils and unions on the DACH market to promote the inevitable idea of personalized big data utilization. Even on the most regulated and conservative markets. The event itself was perfectly organized. Everything happened on time, with a smile and the location was… – what can I say – it was the Hofburg. The location was unbeatable. One minor flaw could be observed, though. Maybe it is only my feeling: but why is it mostly events happening in Austria and Germany where the Wi-Fi connection works very badly? Right now, a day after the event, due to having my schedule filled with meetings and follow-ups, I still do not even know which startup won the competition but sending big congratulations from AgentBalance! The slightly negative thing is, I did not really get to experience all the technological wonders and gadgets presented here. With a sole exception of a fighter jet VR simulator which left me incapacitated for about an hour, further strengthened my respect of heights, caused one canceled meeting and consumption of 2 extra beers.
It came as a nice surprise that I met many Czech and Slovak startups at the event brought by Czech Pioneers or facing the odds on their own. Based on (not only) that fact, I must say that at the moment this article is being published, I am stunned by the total lack of attention of all the “most popular” Czech online startup portals. Not a single mention of one of the major events in the startup world happening just around the corner from Prague (and Brno, etc., I know…). Maybe I get it all wrong and it really is more interesting and important to provide full and never-ending coverage of renaming companies, “tell us about your fuckups” sessions, what-recently-happened-on-social-media summaries and similarly enjoyable topics. I might be missing something here…
Let’s make the summary of the 2016 Pioneers Festival in Vienna simple. Hope to see you in Vienna at the 2017 Pioneers Festival!
